The World ME Alliance is thrilled to announce that Mirame Arts e.V., a dedicated non-profit organisation from Germany, has joined our ranks as a member.
Mirame Arts have been working with us for a while as a project partner supporting the development of plans for World ME Day 2024, and this next step in collaboration means the World ME Alliance now has members in 20 countries worldwide!
Mirame Arts is a champion for the ME/CFS community in Germany and beyond, working to raise awareness and support research for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Post-Covid conditions. Their goal is to make a lasting difference through creative and innovative solutions that we develop in cooperation with business and politics. You can see this play out in the dynamic and high quality media they produce. And their recent work showcases their unwavering commitment:
- Through their impactful “OWL 4 ME” project, Mirame Arts successfully raised over €7,000 for the ME/CFS Research Foundation in Germany. This initiative, focused on the Ostwestfalen region, employed creative strategies to engage both the private and public sectors, highlighting the importance of ME/CFS research and advocating for the needs of patients. Their current goal is to bridge the gap between large corporations, regional businesses, and local authorities, aiming to secure larger donations to further accelerate research efforts.
- Recognizing the power of collaboration, Mirame Arts actively seeks to connect patients, families, researchers, and policymakers. They have met with officials at the highest levels of the German Bundestag (parliament), advocating for research funding and highlighting how COVID-19 is triggering a surge in the numbers developing ME.
Sian Leary, Head of Advocacy and Communications at the World ME Alliance shares their excitement at this new collaboration and its potential for the future: “We love Mirame Arts focus on creativity as a way to provoke emotion and consequently understanding. They are full of brilliant ideas for improving the quality of media we in the ME advocacy world can produce, and we are really looking forward to upping our game together.”
Martin Hippe, co-founder of Mirame Arts and representative of their organisation at the World ME Alliance shares that: “For us, membership of the World ME Alliance is the next important step towards our goal of creating fair and humane structures in poorer countries, raising international awareness of M.E. through artistic content and also representing German patient interests worldwide. We are striving to work very closely with our international partners from 20 countries and are hopeful to strengthen networks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and other German-speaking nations to raise awareness in these countries of the importance of international networking among all patient organizations. We are looking forward to the new tasks.”
By joining the World ME Alliance, Mirame Arts amplifies its impact, contributing to a global network focused on improving the lives of millions living with ME. We are excited to welcome them and work together towards a future free from ME.
